Name: :Lifestyle to the rich and the famous-Good Charlotte
Genre: Rock/Pop
In the music video the band is going to a party as they get to the party everything goes wrong. This video is a narrative and there is a link between the visuals and the lyrics. This music video is about a group of friends that are jealous over what some other people have got in their lives compared to them.
As the music video starts with the lyrics " I see it on TV" it is a close up on the TV screen in a posh house. As the lyrics change from " i see it on TV" to "Read it in a magazine" it goes through the TV screen onto the table to a stack of magazines, the front of the magazine has a picture of Britney Spears shouting at a waiter in this scene of the music video we see that there is intertextual reference's to other good charlotte music video's i did this so that we can get the right sort of people that are already fans of this song to also like it becauyse of the video too.As the lyrics change again Britney fades out the shot, leaving the band and their girlfriends in a fancy restaurant eating dinner and talking about life, this lasts until the lyrics change to "I'd Like To See the Spend a Week" at this stage the camera shot changes to an establishing shot of a street with drunk rich snobs with smeared make up down there face with broken heels stumbling down the street looking in the windows of expensive brand shops. As this is going on when it gets to the line "walking in someone else s shoes" The camera goes into a close up on the shoes in a shop then merges back to the establishing shot as the lyrics "i think they'd stumble and fall" The band members walk past and trip the rich drunk snobs. As the chorus starts with the lyrics "Lifestyles to the rich and the famous" The band are performing in their house and are surrounded in money on the floor. There is a long shot. as this lyrics change to " there always complainin', Alway complainin" there is a close up on the singer. as the lyricschange to "if money is such a problem" the camera shot changes to the band members picking up the notes off the floor and throwing it at the camera. As the notes fall from the camera the lyrics change to "well, they got mansions" As the notes fall off the camera the the shot merges into an establishing shot of the mansion. As the lyrics are " think we should rob them" the members in the band are sneaking up the path to the mansion and finding somewhere to break in. As the chorus ends there is a close up on the mansion door, the door opens to a party with rich snobs in sparkly, glittery dresses and smart suits as these people are looking at the man in the doorway they all sip there champagne. when the lyrics change to "and there's no such thing as 25 to life" the main man is behind bars in prison. the man walks straight out with a smug face on him. The lyrics change to " as long as you've got the cash to pay the Cochran" as these lyrics are on, the camera goes into a close up on a rich man with money falling out of his pockets. This verse is basically saying that rich people can get away with anything. When the lyrics "and did you know if you were caught and you were smokin crack" we see a man drop a drug into his wifes's glass of champagne and we get a medium close up of the band acting like idiots smoking crack. The lyrics change to "Mcdonalds wouldn't even take you back" we get a close up on the band wasted with beer cans in there hands and loads around them. When the last line of this verse comes on with the lyrics "you could always just run for mayor of D.C" we see a close up on the beer cans on the floor round the band. When this shot is finished, it fades out into the establishing shot of the street. it then repeats the second part of the first verse with the same video and camera shots. the mise-en-scene stays the same as well. As the song goes on the music video repeats itself as if its going though the video again. until it gets to " well they got mansion" where the band has trown the money onto the camera instead of the money falling and then revealing a party it reveals the band breaking into the window. As the band members climb through the window they fall and smack there faces on the floor, as the lyrics change to "think we should rob them (rob them) " they look round the room for something to nick. When them lyrics are finished and the lyrics turn to (they would fall, they would fall)" The rich snobs come upstairs and see them lieing on the floor. the lady that owns the mansion phones the police.
Police arrive at the mansion in 5 minutes and while the lyrics from " lifestyles to the rich and the famous" to the end of the song they are being arrested close up on the bands faces(looking smug). The camera fades out as the band members have been cuffed and put into the police car. The music then fades out. and leaves the screen blacked out.
